The Three Pillars of Traffic Torch

🧠

UX Health

Readability, navigation, accessibility, mobile/PWA readiness, and performance proxies.

🎯

SEO Intent

E-E-A-T signals, content depth, readability, and schema markup.

🤖

AI Search (AEO)

Answerability, structured data, EEAT, scannability, conversational tone, originality.

🔍 What This Tool Specifically Audits (Lighthouse Plus)

Lighthouse Plus performs a deep, real-time analysis of your webpage to evaluate how well it performs for real human visitors — and how ready it is for agentic browsing and AI-driven interfaces.

It examines Core Web Vitals, the Lighthouse performance categories, WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, best practices, SEO On-Page signals, PWA readiness, resource optimisation, third-party impact, mobile UX, and Agentic Browsing readiness.

All processing is 100% client-side via a secure CORS proxy. Your URL and content are never stored or shared. Complete privacy guaranteed.

How This Differs From AEO Performance

The AEO Performance Tool measures how well AI crawlers and answer engines can crawl, render, parse, and extract your content. Lighthouse Plus measures the human experience: how fast, accessible, and usable the page is, and how ready it is for AI agents that browse on behalf of users.

Different audience, different signals. Use AEO Performance when you care about AI citation. Use Lighthouse Plus when you care about human UX and page performance — or run both for a full picture.

Key Insight: Human UX + AI Readiness = Compounding Wins

Pages that are fast, accessible, and cleanly structured earn more human engagement — which reinforces ranking. The same pages are easier for AI agents and answer engines to consume. Lighthouse Plus measures both sides of that equation.

Lighthouse Plus Audit Toolkit

We built Traffic Torch to cut through the noise. No fluff, no dark patterns – just honest, actionable data about your page's performance, accessibility, and agent readiness. Use it to fix what's broken, and let your users (and AI agents) do the rest.

On-Page Lighthouse Plus Checklist

Master these proven on-page performance and UX best practices to boost visibility, accessibility, and rankings.

Lighthouse Plus Checklist 🗝️

Best Practices to Do

  • ✅ Hit Core Web Vitals targets: LCP under 2.5s, INP under 200ms, CLS under 0.1, FCP under 1.8s, TTFB under 800ms.
  • ✅ Ship a passing Lighthouse performance score: avoid render-blocking resources, minimise unused JS/CSS, optimise images.
  • ✅ Meet WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility: colour contrast, keyboard navigation, ARIA, alt text, focus order, form labels.
  • ✅ Follow best practices: HTTPS everywhere, no console errors, no deprecated APIs, correct image aspect ratios, no vulnerable libraries.
  • ✅ Complete SEO On-Page basics: unique title, meta description, canonical, hreflang, robots directives, indexable.
  • ✅ Add PWA basics: valid manifest, service worker, offline fallback, installable, correct theme and icon set.
  • ✅ Optimise resources: compress images (WebP/AVIF), minify JS/CSS, subset fonts, defer non-critical resources.
  • ✅ Audit third-party impact: measure each third-party script's CPU and blocking cost, remove or defer those that hurt.
  • ✅ Mobile UX: tap targets ≥48px, correct viewport, base font ≥16px, no horizontal scroll, respect safe-area insets.
  • ✅ Agentic Browsing (beta): WebMCP integrations, semantic landmarks, stable DOM, no bot walls, llms.txt where relevant.

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • ❌ Ignoring Core Web Vitals: slow LCP, high CLS, and long INP all reduce human engagement and rankings.
  • ❌ Skipping accessibility: low contrast, missing labels, and broken keyboard nav exclude real users and hurt SEO.
  • ❌ Loading everything on every page: unused JS/CSS from old plugins is the top cause of low performance scores.
  • ❌ Uncompressed images: giant PNGs and JPGs are still the #1 cause of slow LCP on most sites.
  • ❌ Overlooking third-party cost: tag managers, chat widgets, and ads can dominate your CPU budget.
  • ❌ Ignoring mobile: small tap targets, tiny text, and horizontal scroll hurt mobile UX and mobile rankings.
  • ❌ Broken PWA: missing manifest, invalid icons, or no offline fallback fails installability.
  • ❌ Stale SEO On-Page: duplicate titles, missing canonicals, and blocked robots directives are still common.
  • ❌ Overlooking agentic readiness: pages that fail WebMCP, missing llms.txt, or blocking AI agents will lose agent traffic.

Why Lighthouse Plus Matters?

Performance Is the Foundation of Modern Visibility

Human UX and page performance still drive the core signals Google uses: Core Web Vitals, accessibility, best practices, and mobile usability. Skip them and you lose rankings, engagement, and conversions.

At the same time, AI agents browse on behalf of users. Pages that are fast, accessible, cleanly structured, and PWA-ready are easier for those agents to consume. Lighthouse Plus measures both sides.

Technical performance and accessibility are still the leading cause of poor user engagement, missing rich results, and unstable rankings during algorithm updates.

Proven Benefits of Strong Lighthouse Plus Performance

🎯

Higher & More Stable Rankings

Google still ranks on Core Web Vitals, accessibility, and mobile usability. Fixing them lifts rankings and stabilises positions during updates.

Real Accessibility Wins

WCAG 2.2 AA compliance widens your audience, reduces legal risk, and improves SEO — Google explicitly uses accessibility signals.

💰

Higher Conversion Rates

Faster pages convert better. Mobile-friendly tap targets, readable text, and PWA installability all lift real revenue.

🤖

Future-Proof for Agentic Web

AI agents browse on behalf of users. Pages that pass Lighthouse Plus are ready for the next wave of agentic interactions.

Lighthouse Plus FAQ

Traffic Torch instantly scans your page's performance, accessibility, and agent readiness. Then delivers fixes and education to align with modern UX standards.

How is Lighthouse Plus different from Google Lighthouse?
Lighthouse Plus runs the same underlying Lighthouse checks plus custom Puppeteer measurements, then adds two things Lighthouse does not: a What/How/Why explanation for every module, and CMS-specific AI fix instructions. It also includes SEO On-Page, Resource Optimisation, Third-Party Impact, Mobile UX, and Agentic Browsing modules that go beyond stock Lighthouse.
What are Core Web Vitals and why do they matter?
Core Web Vitals are LCP (Largest Contentful Paint), INP (Interaction to Next Paint), and CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift). Google uses them as a ranking signal. We also measure FCP and TTFB because they directly influence how fast content becomes visible and interactive.
How does Lighthouse Plus check accessibility?
We run a Puppeteer + axe-core pass that checks WCAG 2.2 AA rules: colour contrast, ARIA correctness, keyboard navigation, focus visibility, alt text on images, form labels, heading order, and landmark regions. Then we surface fixes at the file or CMS level.
What is Agentic Browsing and why is it a separate module?
Agentic Browsing is how AI agents (browser copilots, task agents, WebMCP clients) navigate and act on your page on behalf of a user. This module checks WebMCP integration correctness, semantic landmarks, stable DOM, form labels, focus order, overlay traps, and whether bots can complete basic tasks. It is in beta and will evolve.
Does Lighthouse Plus use the PageSpeed Insights API?
Yes, as an optional supplementary data source. When available, we display PSI lab and field data alongside our custom measurements. PSI data is clearly labelled and does not affect the Lighthouse Plus overall score — it is context, not part of the score.
Can I get fixes specific to my CMS?
Yes. After an audit, click Generate CMS Fixes and Traffic Torch AI will detect your CMS (WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, or Custom) and produce step-by-step instructions inside that CMS's UI — or file-level instructions for custom stacks.
